1999 Skate America

Skate America is an international, senior-level invitation-only figure skating competition organized by the USFSA. It is the first ISU Grand Prix event to be held. The location changes yearly. Medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing.

The 1999 competition was held at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from October 27 through 31st. The compulsory dance was the Viennese Waltz.

In the men's free skate, Timothy Goebel made history by becoming the first person to land three quadruple jumps in one program. In the long program, he landed a quad salchow, a quad toe loop in combination, and a quad toe as a solo jump.[1]
